Under the Missiles, a Family Chose Hope
Rina is one of many mothers in Haifa deeply shaken by the missile attacks. Her apartment has no bomb shelter, making each siren all the more terrifying.
She first reached out to us last year, referred by her social worker. Rina had been told, after an operation that removed one of her ovaries, that pregnancy would be impossible. So when she did become pregnant, she and her partner were stunned, and afraid: their finances were dire, and they didn't believe they could support a child. They considered an abortion. But her social worker, recognizing they'd struggle to afford even the basics, referred them to us for help.
Today, Rina and her partner are grateful they chose life for their daughter, Talia, now a year old and filling their home with laughter. Rina has returned to work and placed Talia in daycare, though it too lacks a bomb shelter. At the start of the war, the family simply stayed home; now they're pushing for a solution and have written to the mayor of Haifa.
Through it all, Rina says the monthly gift cards have been an enormous help, letting her buy diapers, wipes, formula, and other essentials for Talia. "I don't know how I would have managed without this," she says.
More Than a Wheelchair: A Second Chance at Comfort
Amram, 43, lives with cerebral palsy and Börjeson-Forssman-Lehmann syndrome, a rare condition that shapes his body in distinct ways, including pronounced scoliosis and deformities in his hands and feet.
For years, Amram's wheelchair simply couldn't keep up with his complex physical needs. Without proper support, eating and digesting food safely became a struggle. His breathing grew more restricted. And as he aged, his body continued to decline, a slow, painful decline that a better chair could have prevented.

When Tamar joined our Tel Aviv cohort at age 50, she was despondent, worn down by years of workplace abuse and humiliation. Broken and hesitant to believe she even had the strength to participate, she arrived a shadow of her former self.
But something shifted. A foundation of trust took hold, and Tamar proved more receptive, and readier, than even she believed. It was the first step in a journey of emotional and professional recovery.
What followed was remarkably swift. Tamar moved from withdrawn and closed-off to fully embracing every workshop and tool offered to her. Just six weeks later, she secured a position as a Claims Adjuster at an insurance company.
That job is a real milestone. But the deeper victory is the one no title can capture: Tamar found her way back to herself. Her journey stands as powerful proof of what's possible when the right guidance meets a supportive environment, even the most broken circumstances can give way to a new chapter of hope and success.
