Abel's Road to Recovery

Twelve-year-old Abel's journey illustrates the patience and creativity nutritional rehabilitation demands. This bright and charming boy came to a C4i 'Children at Risk' project from Africa, facing a complex combination of brittle bone disease, intellectual disability, and autism spectrum disorder. Yet his radiant smile and lovable personality have endeared him to staff and made his family in Tel Aviv incredibly proud.
For a long time, Abel refused oral feeding entirely and relied on PEG tube nutrition. Then, through gentle exploration of his preferences, our team discovered something unexpected: he loves schnitzel.
That single discovery opened a door. It has since expanded his dietary acceptance, and while progress remains gradual, each small victory marks a real step toward greater independence and joy at mealtime.
